Hi!
I recently tried out storing passkeys in Bitwarden and using them in Firefox via the browser extension on desktop. It worked great, so I was stoked to try it out on my Android phone too. I had heard that Android would have good support for synced Passkeys via third party apps since Android 14, so I anticipated that it would work. Alas, disappointment ensued.
It seems like Firefox for Android barely works at all with Passkeys. I cannot get my YubiKey to work, nor Android's native Passkey store, nor via Bitwarden.
This was sorely disappointing. 😞 I like to think that Firefox is in the forefront of security and privacy, providing me with the latest and greatest tools. But in this case, it seems like Chrome has bested the fox.
I'm really hoping to see improvements on this front. I posted a comment on Google Play and they referred me here. Are there any active development to implement full support for Passkeys, or have Mozilla dropped the ball on this one?
Looking forward to hearing if anyone has more insight into this.
Cheers!

Passkeys is the right move to finally ditch those passwords for good and not having full support doesn't help with that/or adoption to the Firefox user base (now that Google made the "mistake" of pushing Manifest V3).
Bitwarden is specifically requiring the PRF extension of WebAuthn, which Firefox hasn't implemented: https://bitwarden.com/blog/prf-webauthn-and-its-role-in-passkeys/

Thanks for the detailed info, lindhe. Your point about Bitwarden's PRF requirement is helpful. It seems Firefox needs to catch up there. Hopefully, future updates will bridge that gap and allow seamless Passkey usage with Bitwarden.
I'll be sure to keep an eye on updates from both Firefox and Bitwarden, and I'll be happy to share any relevant information on w2go site services as well.

I made the same request twice and didn't get approved form past 2 month. Sadly, on Android Passkey only works with chromium based browsers. I think their playstore support are responsible for creating traffic here. They never listen to the requests whatsoever

It's finally working on android 14 and above.

Not for me. Which Firefox version are you on?
EDIT: I upgraded to 132.0.2 and OMG IT WORKS! I can login to GitHub using my Passkey stored in Bitwarden!! Using the app, not the browser extension. I'm on Samsung Galaxy S23 with Android 14.
I'm so happy!!
