What's with all the pop-ups?

Making moves

I have been using Firefox for at least five years. The reason I started using it was the functional look, the easy to-get-to settings for everything you could need and the non-intrusive user experience. Since the last month or so though it seems the have become commonplace for intrusive pop-ups, containing a nice fox, giving suggestions whatever action I take: open the browser - popup!, close a tab - popup!

I get that most of them have informative content and aren't nearly as bad as what I get using edge or the likes. But I think most users feel hindered in their effective workflow when a pop-up suddenly blocks your cursor. The reason I use Firefox is because I like to be able to have it work however I want - if I want to change anything or learn about more features I will do that on my own, I do not need any reminders.

I haven't been able to find any way of turning these of, but I am sure I am missing the option to. If there's not an option Mozilla should either add one, or just completely remove the informative pop-ups as I am sure others feel like me.

Making moves

Hi Mozilla people. I love Firefox and your products but please stop trying to emulate google and micro-scum.

The reason people choose Firefox is: A) they have always use Netscape/Mozilla software because it's reliable and treats users like users and not raw materials to exploit; or B) People switched as they are tired of microsoft porducts and their cliches such as pop-ups telling them "What's new" for features most users don't even know "what is the old" they are supposed to be a reference to.

Pop-ups interrupting your activities have NEVER been fun. They were not fun durying the 90s browser wars and they are not fun today following that "What's new" cliche. Please take heed of all the negative public opinion microslop and google are gathering recently and stay away from: focus groups, a/b tests, self-aggrandising pop-ups, and basically anything that stops people in their tracks and interrupts what they do on a daily basis regardless of whether they are browsing for work or leisure.

Thank you for your work. Keep being yourselves.
