Context
- In Firefox, when a tab contains both a Sidebar and a Webpage, opening a new tab preserves the width between them.
- However, if I adjust the Sidebar–Webpage proportions in the new tab, those changes are applied retroactively to all other tabs, This means that the last configuration of Sidebar-Webpage prevails over all previous ones.
- Actually, I think it would make a lot more sense to preserve the Sidebar-Webpage configuration for each individual tab. This would prevent any adjustments to the width of the Sidebar or Webpage made elsewhere from being disrupted, while maintaining the layout that was previously optimized for reading or working.
Proposal
Firefox should store Webpage Width (including Split View configurations) on a per‑tab basis, while Sidebar width adjusts to that configuration rather that overriding individual webpage layouts.
