Trouble getting into CNBC website with Firefox

I'm having trouble getting into the CNBC.com business website. I get a "Versant" introduction message that they are now in charge or some sort of thing and the option to Hit a "Continue" button. When I hit Continue the very same Versant introduction message keeps coming up preventing me from accessing the information on this website.

I've cleared the cache for this site and turned off all extensions and ad blockers for this site. And still the same problem. When I tried accessing CNBC.com from my cell, I can get in. Why I try accessing CNBC.com from the EDGE browser, I have no problems getting in. So why can't I get in on my PC using my Firefox on my PC? Help

I clicked max protection for DNS. Got out, went back into firefox and cleared 4 hours of history. The cnbc website asked me again to confirm I understood what they were telling me and I clicked continue. I got it. All fixed. I've never heard of these Ublock origin. Sometimes I get a little fearful of setting something up I know nothing about. I trust you of course but I'm not sure if doing something like this will make it difficult to get into other sites are absolutely need like banking etc.  There are so many options to click on, if I ever needed to Undo whatever I did, I'm pretty sure I'd have an impossible time locating those links through all the paths I'd need to take. Thus my hesitancy. I can tell you are very familiar with the system setups. I wish I had a friend like you to walk me through this stuff and undo anything if things went south. Unfortunately it's just me and at 65 I know I don't know everything. I was in IT years ago and man oh man how things have changed. How we are suppose to keep up? i don't know anymore ... lol. But having this forum and meeting very helpful people like you makes it so much easier. To be honest I wasn't sure these forums actually worked and I'd be stuck where I was. So I can't tell you how appreciative I am of you taking that time and helping someone you don't even know. All my best. Have a good life. Best, Ricon

No problem here. While on the problem page, try clicking the padlock to the left of the address bar > Clear cookies and site data > refresh the tab.  If that doesn't work, try these:

- Troubleshoot mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode/)

- Disable VPN if you're using one

- Change proxy settings: FF menu > Settings > search for proxy > click Settings button > try the other settings

- Change DNS settings: FF menu > Settings > search for dns > try the other 'Enable DNS over HTTPS using' settings including another provider

When I used the troubleshooting mode i was able to get in to the site like I used to
From here I don't know what I'm supposed to do?
I checked for the Proxy settings used as advised.
I see that there were 2 checked
1- Use system proxy settings
2- Proxy DNS when using Socks v5
 
I checked the DNS settings
Under Enable DNS over HTTPS using"
I see that I have checked "Default Protection"
  It starts of by saying "Firefox decides when to use secure DNS to protect your privacy"
    followed by more wording
Recently I was trying to prevent spying on my computer but I'm not sure what I clicked now.
I didn't want stuff shared with 3rd party marketers etc I think ??? but don't hold me to that.
Everywhere else I go online I have no problem
Just this one CNBC  website
So any advice on what I should click on next would be appreciative maybe
with an explanation of what privacy I might be giving up.... or even better
how to set up the settings without revealing to much about myself if possible to 3rd party
vendors. I have no problem if the site I visit has my info. It's just that I don't know
who they might be selling my info to that bothers me.

Its Ricon again. Please ignore last email unless you think it warrants some kind of changes???? After doing the troubleshooting .... when I go back in again the regular way without troubleshooting  .... it now works. So MAYBE ... I was able to get that "Click on Continue" all registered on their site somehow  and now it accepts me when I go back without the troubleshooting more. Still kind of weird why this happened in the first place but glad it works now. Hopefully it stays that way. Best siffemcon. Thanks for your help.

I've seen Troubleshoot mode fix things, even though it's temporary. Maybe just the restart did it?

Re privacy:

- for DNS, use Increased protection with the default Cloudflare

- for proxy, leave as is

- if you haven't already, install uBlock Origin and enable these lists:

AdGuard URL Tracking Protection (it's in the Privacy category)

AdGuard/uBO – Cookie Notices

AdGuard – Annoyances

uBlock filters – Annoyances

If you do that, make sure to uninstall all other ad/cookie/etc. blockers.
