I understand the want/ need to constantly update Thunderbird for the smallest nuance of a feature, but what has to be understood by doing the constant changing of the code, it stops the "add-on's" from working. As a suggestion, give the authors of the add-on's a head's up to what changes are coming so they can re-write their code on their own time with no compensation to their hard work.
I have used Thunderbird for years and really enjoy it, but the amount of spam that is coming my way is insane. I have to use an add-on since the stock Thunderbird spam controls are lacking.
Remember when the news everyday that a new virus whas hitting Windows? They took control and implemented their own anti-virus program. No news anymore about a virus. Maybe Thunderbird could implement a spam control that actually works.

Add-on authors get a great amount of support from our two full time developers dedicated to the add-ons environment. But not all add-on authors make smart choices. And the choices you make also have consequences:
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/choosing-thunderbird-release-channel can help you make better choices.
Also, most good add-on authors are working to get rid of their experiments code - and they have our support in these efforts. But if they are not making progress then you are the one who suffers.
