Until a certain version of the browser, the history sidebar was one of Firefox's best features, in my opinion. It's one of the reasons I never switched browsers.
In the internal search field of the history sidebar, I would type, for example, the website "google.com," which contained dozens of records of searches I'd made. Then I'd press TAB, I think, twice and select the first history record, then I'd press CTRL + A, selecting all the history records, which were the results of the search. That's it, I'd press Delete, and delete everything. In less than 5 seconds, I'd execute this sequence of commands and clear all the records for a specific "site"...
Now it's horrible: pressing TAB once selects the Clear button, twice selects the Open Menu button, and three times focuses on the first element of the site on the right. Now, to delete the records, you have to do it one by one; it's terrible. It's a huge regression; it's the same or similar to Chrome, which I always hated.

I just met this abomination when I updated from 156.0.1-1 to 157.0-1 What a MESS! Impossible to manage history any more.

In anther thread, dftf provided the following, and it works perfectly.
All those here: you may be able to fix this by reverting to the previous sidebar UI
In the URL bar, type about:config then press ENTER
Accept any warning
On the next screen, search for revamp
Double-click the "sidebar.revamp" entry to change it to "false"

Bonjour
According to https://www.firefox.com/en-US/firefox/157.0/releasenotes
While we continue to refine the new design, the previous sidebar version can still be restored by setting sidebar.revamp to false in about:config. This also turns off vertical tabs. The preference will remain available until the end of 2027.
