Stopping the browser from throwing link addresses to the search engine ?

OK, Now I have an issue.

MS Edge wants to throw everything to the search engine and I am disgusted with that ignorance so I used to pop over to my Firefox browser when MS Edge did that and use it.

NOW Firefox is also doing the same crap with a link address.

I often check on our AT&T Router ( every time I want to configure one to use my personal web server, at least )

Who ever changed how our browsers use a direct link address ( like http://192.168.1.254/cgi-bi/login.ha ) needs there head examined... ( also who ever changed the edit...

Not impressed one bit anymore.

I am also not impressed how the editor on here mangled the message... ( at the end of the link address ).

If I paste

http://192.168.1.254/

into the address bar, the top line of the drop-down indicates "Visit" meaning that Firefox plans to load the page at that address.

On your Firefox, does it indicate Visit or Search with [some search site]?

If it indicates Visit but you end up on a search results page anyway, hmm, is it your default search engine or have your requests been hijacked to a different one? To check your default search settings: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-your-default-search-settings-firefox
