I recently updated my Thunderbird client to the release update channel, at the recommendation of the Thunderbird team. Huge mistake to follow that recommendation. If you haven't done it yet, don't!! Among the problems I've had so far are:
1. My messages are now displayed in card mode instead of table mode.
2. The list of recent folders for saving email messages has been deleted.
3. The message list panel frequently goes blank for no apparent reason, so there's no list of my emails in my Inbox or any folder.
I'm very disappointed in the release update channel and plan to switch back to the way it was, at least until all of those bugs are worked out.

#1 was a result of a bug in 139.0 (noted inhttps://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/139.0/releasenotes/) which caused message list to change to cards view rather than stay at table view. It was quickly fixed in 139.0.1. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/139.0.1/releasenotes/.
#2 is not something that has been previously reported, or since. Have you seen also happen in the last couple updates 139.0.1 or 139.0.2?
#3 this is a problem we are currently working on. For now, increase the compact value listed in Settings so that it will happen less often.
Thanks for posting these issues. However, please note that is better to post problems in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/thunderbird where they will get quicker attention, because "discussion" here is really just for discussion, not problem determination. Thanks.
