the new 'extensions' icon/button

I see that new 'puzzle piece' icon for extensions management on my toolbar...I also see that I can't remove it.

I don't want it, it's an irritation. WHY on Earth did you think it was a good idea to make it unremovable?!

HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?!

There's an active thread on the "Ideas" side of this site advocating that users should be able to move the button. I suggest voting for that issue and adding feedback on your needs there:
