Deleting search results doesn't seem to work at all on Google
I am French, I write in French on google
I have tried on DuckDuckGo and Google Search
Example:
I type Amazone to get results on what we mean by an « amazone woman ».
I could have looked for results on the Amazone river which is one of the longest in the world...
In French there is an "e" at the end, but it seems that it doesn’t in English, in both cases
So “obviously” I only come across Amazon.com results!
And this on all the first pages, hundred of results without any amazone woman in sight nor any 7000 km long river!!!
I then type: amazone -amazon
only 4 results, and still no results on amazone, but Amazon.com always in first position…
So I type “amazone -site:https://www.amazon.fr”
I get exactly the same result as initially in the first case. weird right?
And it doesn't get any better with « amazone » -site:https://www.amazon.fr
I came across an agricultural machinery site: amazone.fr
but this seems normal since it involves excluding a word in the name of the site
AND always amazon.fr first (and nothing else relating to a woman or a river, sorry to insist on this !)
That's annoying, isn't it?
So obviously it's better if I search for "amazones" in the plural
Or even “Fleuve Amazone”
But is this normal???
This is just an exemple, but can we fear that a powerful commercial site could override the protection instructions put in place ?
