New York Times crossword Firefox 102.0.1

Since the Firefox 102.0.1 update the New York Times crossword page has gone haywire.   It works fine with other browsers, like Safari.

What happens exactly with that page? What's the problem exactly?

The black squares disappear or move or change size (see squares to the left of 83-down, 85-down and the random single squares below 94-down, 84 down, etc.).  As you start to fill in answers, they disappear or reappear.

As of 106.0.2, I have been having issues (Win 11) where the puzzle freezes up as I move the cursor to another square.  Task Manager shows a Firefox process with several GB being used -- I end that sub-task and the puzzle resumes.
