I have been using Firefox on iPadOS for several years. In the past, the app often felt behind compared to other browsers. However, over the last few months, Firefox has made noticeable progress—bringing back meaningful features and delivering clear improvements. It’s encouraging to see Firefox moving in the right direction.
That said, after continued daily use, I would like to share several suggestions that I believe could significantly improve the Firefox experience on iPadOS:
- Tabs Bar Design & Usability
The tabs bar could benefit from a visual and usability refresh. If possible, placing the New Tab (+) button directly next to existing tabs, rather than on the far right, would make tab creation faster and more intuitive.
Additionally, slightly rounder tabs with Liquid Glass–style depth and translucency would better align with modern iPadOS design. The close (X) button should be more visible and pronounced, with subtle depth or contrast to improve accuracy.
On smaller iPads, tab scaling can feel oversized—condensing tabs and making them feel closer to the desktop Firefox tab style would improve information density and usability. - Address Bar Size & Integration
The address bar currently feels too large and visually dominant, especially on iPad screens. A more compact redesign—or tighter integration with the tabs bar—would improve content focus and better match iPadOS UI conventions. - Multi-Tab View Access
Instead of the current New Tab (+) button, it would be helpful if Firefox allowed quick access to the multi-tab overview from the tabs bar, instead of having in address bar. - Three-Dot Menu Redesign for iPad
The current three-dot menu appears to be optimized for iPhone rather than iPad. A redesigned menu that takes advantage of larger screens, spacing, and pointer/keyboard use would greatly improve usability. Firefox should clearly differentiate between iPhone and iPad UI behaviors. - Keyboard Shortcut for Page Zoom
It’s great that Firefox finally supports webpage zoom on iPadOS. Adding keyboard shortcuts (Cmd + / Cmd –) for zooming would significantly improve the experience for users with external keyboards. - UI Auto-Hide While Scrolling (Bug / Behavior)
When scrolling webpages, the Firefox UI does not consistently minimize or collapse to maximize content space. This behavior works well in other browsers and feels expected on iPadOS. If this is a bug, it would be great to see it addressed. - Liquid Glass, iPadOS 26 & External Display Support
Firefox should further adopt the Liquid Glass design language and improve compatibility with iPadOS 26, especially when using an external display. At times, the UI feels broken or improperly scaled in external display mode, which affects productivity. - Bookmarks, history, download history and saved offline webpages/summarized webpage
I would like Firefox to bring a left or right slide over menu to access bookmarks and history quickly and effectively. Remove it out of 3-dot menu into its separate section. - Advanced Tab Management (Optional Power Feature)
Introducing tab groups, workspaces, or profiles on iPad would be extremely useful—especially for users who separate work, personal, and research browsing. - Apple Intelligence Support
I know Firefox has been started implementing more Apple Intelligence models in Firefox like summarization. I would like Firefox to implement like smart Siri / more like slide over chatbot inside of Firefox to bring support of understanding context models and more of Apple Intelligence models inside of Firefox.
Overall, Firefox is clearly improving on iPadOS, and these refinements would help it feel truly optimized for iPad—especially for power users who rely on multitasking, keyboards, and external displays. Thank you for continuing to invest in Firefox on iPad.
