Not exactly sure what you guys think is going to be improved by having AI in the browser???
I spend enough of my day attempting to filter the trash generated by AI on the internet out of my life as it is. Clippy the Mozilla Assistant is a descent into hell IMHO. Please don't do this to your customer base.
At the very least, I strongly agree that any AI product you attempt to add to Firefox should be opt IN not opt out! Or I guess I'll be looking for a new browser when I thought that particular fight was over for a while.

This. I'll try to disable it, but if I can't, I'll be looking for a new browser for the first time in over a decade.

Has it been implemented yet?

I just added the AI Chat Everywhere extension for Firefox. It is awesome to have immediate access which on any browser page to the helpful assistance of Chat GPT. I recommend it for everyone who longs for the help AI assistants within Edge, Chrome and Brave provide.
Give it a try. But no, Mozilla won't force you to. That's the whole point of this browser.
The. Sky. Is. Not. Falling. =:xB

So now it's going to be added in spite of the fact AI is rapidly becoming an even bigger dumpster fire. Great…

Guess I'm never updating and looking for a new browser. Anyone got any suggestions?

Indeed. To many time consuming battle fronts - trying to reduce the increasing uselessness of only these two is a redirecting time-consumer:
1) Windows 11 built in dysfunctional overload of useless, predatory features (not to mention trying to avoid Microsoft overreach everywhere online), and
2) increasingly Firefox useless features.
It takes too much time to configure them all away - then have to do it repeatedly with each update.
