Hey everyone!

My name is Justin, and I’m part of the team working on Tab Groups for Firefox on Android. We’re excited to start getting this feature into your hands and would love your help shaping it before a wider release.

What are Tab Groups?
Tab Groups help you organize your open tabs into named groups, making it easier to stay focused and switch between different tasks. Whether you're planning a trip, researching a topic, or juggling work and personal browsing, Tab Groups keep related tabs together and easy to find.

Try it now in Firefox Nightly!
An early version of Tab Groups is available by default in Firefox Nightly with limited functionality, and we’d love for you to test it out and share your thoughts.

How to create a tab group:

  • Open the tab tray

  • Select a tab

  • Tap the overflow menu (top-right)

  • Tap “Add to group”

  • Name your group and assign a color

  • Press Save

What’s coming next
We’re actively working on improvements, including support for drag-and-drop to create tab groups - making the experience faster and more intuitive. We're also finalizing the new Tab Groups page in the tab tray where you will have a dedicated space for all your groups.

Share your feedback
Your input is incredibly valuable at this stage. Please share your feedback, ideas, and any issues you encounter in this thread so we can continue improving the experience.

Thanks for helping us build a better Firefox for Android - we can’t wait to hear what you think!

When i open a Link in a new Tab on Desktop, it’s in the same Tab Group.

For me, “Open Link in new Tab in same Group” shouldn’t be an added Button in Firefox for Android. It should just be how Links open in new Tabs.

Mozilla probably didn’t do this yet because there’s no easy Way to remove Tabs from Groups in Firefox for Android. I wish they add that soon.

Not really a button - I meant an option in the context menu if you press and hold on the link - this is what I am used to from Brave for Android. You can choose "open in new tab" or "open in new tab in group", so you can choose whatever you want.

Your suggestion is definitely better for me than the current state, but not as flexible.

What do you mean? There is the cross in the corner of each tab?
What I miss is just scrolling / looking through the tabs in a group - not always jumping out to all the tabs and groups and then going back in to the selected group etc... Like... just bloody copy it from others 😄

Ah, i see what you mean now.

I agree that the Tabs List should open to the current Tab Group by Default, not always to all Tabs. I just thought it’s too obvious to comment (but i was wrong).

I don’t see myself using “Open Link in new Tab” (outside the current Tab Group) a lot when all Features to organize Tab Groups are implemented, so i suggested just tweaking the Behavior of that Button. And i did mean the Button in the Context Menu.

But now i can imagine how having both Options is useful to many, so i got convinced that it’s the better Design.

is this feature also coming to iOS?
