Firefox tab crash

Years of using Firefox browser on Windows desktops and laptops and suddenly I am getting TAB has crashed error messages and repeatedly need to restore them. 

What is going on?

See if clearing cache helps:

- press Ctrl-Shift-Delete (Mac: Cmd-Shift-Delete)

- set 'Time range...' to 'Everything'

- untick all items except 'Temporary cached files and pages'

- clear, then restart FF
