Firefox doen't handle ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED very well

Making moves

I'm trying to access a router and when I type 192.168.43.1 Firefox inserts https://

I installed Google Chrome and tried accessing the router.

Chrome came back with a ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.

I've found the only way to access the router is by going to http://tplinkrepeater.net can't go direct so it looks like a tplink problem although Firefox error handling was very confusing.

https only was turned off so it's a bit annoying that Firefox insisted on putting https:// in front of the address.

Firefox has taken the connection problem and made it look like a Firefox bug problem to the end user.

I don't know if this the right place but can I suggest to the developer of Firefox that they do the following

try to connect to hat the user has typed

if that fails put https:// and see if that works

If not go back to what the user typed and report "web site refused connection"

This makes it clear to the user were the problem is.
