Galaxy S24+ (SM-S926U1), One UI 8.5 / Android 16, Firefox 154.0.
Four things keeping Firefox off my phone as a daily driver.
None of these reproduce in Chromium-based browsers on the same
device, same network, same sites.
1. UNIFY BOOKMARKS
Mobile Bookmarks being a separate root from the desktop
bookmark tree is confusing and serves no purpose I can see. I
save something on my phone and it's invisible where I look for
it on desktop. Give mobile a single merged view, or let me
choose which root mobile saves into.
2. MAKE SYNC STATE VISIBLE
Sync is slow and completely silent. No progress indicator, no
success confirmation, no failure notice. I have no way to know
whether it worked, failed, or is still pending. Even a
timestamp would help.
3. SEGMENTED DOWNLOADS
Downloads are single-connection and run far below available
bandwidth on both Wi-Fi 6 and 5G. The same files finish several
times faster in other browsers on this phone. Parallel chunking
is standard everywhere else.
4. PERFORMANCE PASS ON MEMORY AND RENDERING
Under normal use with a moderate tab count, tab restore,
thumbnail regeneration, and media decoder recovery all fail.
Tabs come back blank, video stops permanently with "Video
loading stopped," and tab previews go stale and never refresh.
Image-heavy pages take noticeably longer to load, and scrolling
is visibly less smooth than other browsers on a phone that
drives 120Hz fine in every other app.
Filed the crash/render specifics separately in Bugzilla under
Fenix. Posting here because 1-3 are product decisions, not
defects.
