What happened to the Firefox I used to now? They use Google as a search engine, how is this different from going straight to Google? Now my Home page is filled with far-left news articles. You press thumbs down and get a message they will customize your input but the same news outlets keep popping up. If I see one more Vanity Fair article I am going to puke.

Why even have any news articles in the homepage? I've not had that experience, but then again, i also dont have anything but the shortcuts in the homepage, which work like easily accessible bookmarks for me.

Alphabet pays Mozilla to use Google search by default. You can change the search engine at FF menu > Settings > Search. You can also remove the Sponsored shortcuts from the home page - click the gear in the lower R. corner.
