When organizing my bookmarks (via Ctrl+Shift+O), I noticed significant clutter in my bookmark library due to long-term disorganization and frequent switching between installed/portable browser versions. This has resulted in a chaotic folder structure with multiple duplicate folders of the same name nested within subfolders, alongside thousands of redundant webpage bookmarks (currently over 9,000 entries). While third-party bookmark management add-ons can detect duplicates, manually removing them one by one is extremely time-consuming.
Proposed Solution:
It would greatly improve efficiency if the bookmark management interface could include a right-click context menu option to merge duplicate bookmarks/folders into a single entry. For example:
Right-clicking a duplicate bookmark/folder would offer a "Merge Duplicates" function.
The system would automatically consolidate all identical items (by name and URL) while preserving the most recent or user-selected version.
This feature would streamline bookmark cleanup, reduce manual effort, and enhance overall usability. I hope the Firefox development team can consider implementing this functionality to make the browser even more user-friendly for power users.
Thank you for your attention!
Note: This request targets improving native bookmark management tools, reducing reliance on third-party extensions for basic organizational tasks.
