email unexpectedly and automatically sent while still editing it

Making moves

While editing an email, I looked at All Emails and used the search function to look up info I needed from other emails. I then sent the email I was editing. It went through as usual.

After sending it, I noticed that the email had been sent 3 times while I was still editing it, without my having clicked the SEND button. These 3 times correspond with when I was looking at All Emails and using the search function.

As a result, the recipient received 4 emails; the first 3 were incomplete.

This is definitely a bug.

A temporary solution and a very useful feature:

There should be an option in the configuration dialogue that delays sending an email for a specifiable number of minutes, so the user can change their mind about sending an email after they click the SEND button. And, when an email is sent, a window would appear asking whether to send it right away or wait for the delay timer to expire, or not to send it at all and have it moved to the Drafts folder. That would be very useful. Further, if that were to take place even when an email is sent because of the bug, that would address the bug as well, until it is hunted down and fixed.

I can't reproduce it. If you can get it to happen again consistently, file a bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi/.
