How do does one remove email threading? As to put it bluntly this seemingly imposed/enforced feature is the most time consuming, degenerative and mentally destructive method of destroying ones workflow. Its all dandy that one integrates new feature, however, this is an email client, if we wanted a chat room we would use chat rooms only. please advise as to how to remove this insidious and vile collation of messages you call threads.

Do this while on your Inbox and using Table View. First, change the view to Unthreaded:
- TB menu bar > View > Sort by > Unthreaded
(If you don't see the menu bar on top, press the ALT key)
- sort others items the way you want
- r. click any Message list column header (From, Subject, etc.) > click 'Apply current view to...' > 'Folder and its children...'
- navigate back to the top level (Account name) and click it
Then do this to prevent future threading:
- go to TB menu > Settings > General > scroll all the way down and click the 'Config editor' button on the right. Click 'Accept the risk and continue'
- search for mailnews.default_view_flags > change the value to 0 > click the check mark > restart TB

Great question! This "feature" is very frustrating! We need to be given the option to remove it permanently.

There is a new settings option for it at TB menu > Settings > Appearance.

You can set the Thunderbird Default Folder View to sort globally by Date, Descending (ie most recent on top) and Unthreaded by editing the Settings as follows:
Click the 'Hamburger' (top right), then Settings->General
Scroll to Bottom, click 'Config Editor' on right. Type in 'Mailnews' and set the below parameters:
MAILNEWS.DEFAULT_SORT_TYPE Value 18 (Date)
MAILNEWS.DEFAULT_SORT_ORDER Value 2 (Descending,)
MAILNEWS.DEFAULT_VIEW_FLAGS Value 0 (UnThreaded)
Restart Thunderbird and it should take effect.
If you want to go back to the default settings, Config Editor shows the changes in bold

In Gmail (web), you can go to the gear icon, open "See all settings," scroll to the “Conversation View” section, select “Conversation view off,” and save changes. In Outlook for desktop, navigate to the “View” tab and uncheck “Show as Conversations,” applying the change to either the current folder or all folders. For Outlook Web or Office 365, head to “View all Outlook settings,” choose “Mail,” then “Layout,” and select “Show emails individually.” On Apple Mail for Mac, open Mail settings, go to “Viewing,” and uncheck “Include related messages.” If you’re using Mozilla Thunderbird, simply right-click the column headers in your inbox, go to “Sort by,” and choose “Unthreaded,” or use the menu under View > Sort By > Unthreaded. Sadly, the Gmail app for Android does not allow conversation view to be turned off, but you can switch to a third-party app like K-9 Mail, which offers a traditional inbox style. Other alternatives such as Claws Mail, Sylpheed, or Mailbird also provide a clean, thread-free email experience.
