Message filters were created in Thunderbird for sorting emails. The web mail server copied and installed the filters, so when a new email arrives it is placed in the correct filter folder on the web mail server and on Thunderbird. No copy of the email is left in the Inbox; consequently, the email cannot be read on my tablet and phone.
The coping and installing the message filters onto the web mail server is a new occurrence. If I delete the filter on the web mail, the filter also gets deleted on Thunderbird. I did purchase a new computer running Windows 11.
I did not have this problem until Thunderbird was updated to version 145.0 (32bit).
The previous Thunderbird version 140.5.0esr (32bit) had the option under “Server Settings” to “Leave messages on server” for X number of days or until I delete them.
I do not know if this change created the issue.
Is there a way I can stop Thunderbird and the web mail server from talking to each other, so the filters are not copied and deleted between the two? Very frustrating.

I've never heard of that happening. Who is your email provider?

I'm going to ask the other support folks if they have any idea about this. In the meantime, contact Shaw support and see if you can get an explanation for it.

“Leave messages on server” still exists in Thunderbird.
Thunderbird filters have no ability to communicate with filters on a server. Perhaps you have an add-on installed that does this?

Hum, I don't see this option as I have been checking this through this morning on 4 diff tyopes of accounts I have. I do remember it being there at some point - when, I have no idea how far back and I have been using TB for years, since it started i believe.

As per my other reply below, related to this point, this option used to be available. I am on 147.0b2 (aarch64) {macOS 26.2 (25C56)} en-GB and do not see this option any more either.
My filters are not replicated to the Servers ( I have two variations with Hostpapa, a main mail as part of the hosting and another as a stand-alone mail server (papamail.net); Outlook and 2 others also going through outlook.Office but in-house servers)
My filters only function on my TB client on the macBook - however, as running IMAP on all accounts, function of the filters on TB client will then update to the server. I am running TB Android on the fone, so when this replicates it reflects the changes on the servers. The server is obviously only updated when the floptop (macbook) is open and running, so if I am away from the floptop during the day, mail I rx on the fone is not reflecting any filters I have set as they are only on the floptop.
hope this makes sense 🙂
