Clicking link in iPad OS Firefox opens the page in a new tab

Although not always occurring, Firefox on the iPad gets into a pattern of every tap leading to a new tab. Sometimes force closing the app fixes this behaviour temporarily. I’m using the latest version of Firefox for iPad OS (can’t check about page as I’m in the feedback option from the settings menu). I’m using iPad OS 26.5.

This sounds like Firefox on iPad is occasionally misinterpreting taps as “open in new tab” actions, likely due to a temporary touch-handling bug. Since force-closing the app only fixes it temporarily, try fully restarting the iPad, disabling any connected mouse/trackpad or accessibility touch features, and clearing Firefox’s tabs/cache in Settings. If the issue continues on the latest version of Firefox and iPadOS, it’s probably a bug worth reporting through Mozilla feedback or reinstalling the app.

Have the same issue, very consistently. Well, it occurs every couple of weeks, always at a point when I've forgotten the glitch exists and I keep opening the same link over and over again, until I remember the glitch and see I have the same new tab open 20 times.
Unfortunately this, combined with an issue that websites in Firefox for iPad sometimes only display half (which seems like a weird portrait/mobile view gone wrong), are forcing me to go back to Safari - I need a consistent, synced browser across all my devices, and Firefox, which I love otherwise, doesn't seem able to deliver this.
