I wanted to leave feedback to Mozilla on my most frustrating aspect of using Firefox for many years now. The most frustrating aspect is that the Bookmarks Manager does not open in a tab.
It would help my workflow enormously if I could engage this pattern to find and open bookmarks:
1) tap Ctrl+Shift+O
2) have Bookmarks Manager open in a new tab with the "Search Bookmarks" field focused so I can immediately start typing. If when I tap Ctrl+Shift+O a tab is already open with Bookmarks Manager, then tapping Ctrl+Shift+O would move the view to that open tab and immediately put the focus into the "Search Bookmarks" field to receive typing input.
3) within the Bookmarks Manager, bookmarks that match my search query will immediately populate as selection-options from my typing.
None of the above 3 steps work in Firefox. I use the Bookmarks Manager heavily on a daily basis. For reasons I won't get into, using the URL bar dropdown is not a solution.
I read Mozilla is creating a new UI. Firefox does not *need* a new UI. It does need the Bookmarks Manager to function how I described above in the 3 steps. I hope that with a new UI design, the Bookmarks Manager will start behaving in the manner of the 3 steps described above. It is my hope that this post can bring attention to the issue. Thank you for any attention you can bring to this problem.
I was happy to see the work done to make Profiles more accessible in Firefox. But with increased use of Profiles, having different users' Bookmarks Managers open in new windows becomes a major work flow, attribution, and organization problem. Another reason Bookmarks Manager needs to open in a tab.
