I like Firefox very much and was using it exclusively on my Desktop and Iphone. I also like to read those long stories on Facebook/ Reels "click here for the rest of the story." Well I did, and a popup appeared telling me all about a charge of $442.99 and if I didn't order call this number right away. I didn't click on anything, did not call. Searched for help getting rid of this pseudo virus and nothing helped.
Since this happened, I downloaded Brave browser and Duck Duck Go browser. Both have build in blockers. Neither have gotten a pseudo virus yet. I am supposed to click on the 3 dots but the popup is preventing this. I can't do anything. I love Firefox, but this has really shaken my trust. Any suggestions?

I did a Google search for .sbv converters. Clicked on one result and boom, started getting all these boxes pop up saying trojan virus found, press here to clean. To fix this issue I had to close Firefox as remove it using Windows, then restarted my computer, then reinstalled Firefox. I actually lost a valuable wordpad file as I was distracted by the impending attack.

Next time you're in Firefox, install uBlock Origin from this link:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
It'll then block ads on websites, and also prevent you going to most malicious websites.

@Janey : on iPhone, not sure what to suggest as Firefox there doesn't support extensions, nor can you change something called the "DNS server" within it either, to my knowledge.
But on your desktop / laptop version of Firefox, install uBlock Origin from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
That will then block ads and restrict access to malicious websites.
