Hello everybody,
I am using Firefox on my PC and Macbook and both have problems with the latest version. Yesterday I noticed that while watching a YT video on my Macbook was getting super hot and decided to open resource monitor and saw that the CPU usage was sitting at the top all the time. Performed a shutdown for a couple of minutes and restart immediately after hoping it will fix the issue, but unfortunately did not.
Decided to try watching a video with Safari and everything was fine, no throttling and no heat at all.
Today I noticed on my PC that while starting FF, it needed like 5-7 seconds to load all my bookmarks (strange?), never before I experienced something like that. Opened a YT video and a slideshow on another site and it Froze for around 10 seconds. It's like I was using Pentium 2 Duo all over again haha.
Tried clearing cache, all browsing data, disabling extensions(add-ons), deleting "user_preference" file from the FF folder and nothing works. I am not experiencing such behavior with Edge and Chrome while performing the same tasks and never before had any problems with FF till now. I am thinking it's the newest update that just dropped. It can't be just a coincidence the struggle on both machines. Anyone else experiencing any strange behaviors ?

What exactly is in that "user_preference" file?
Do the same problems also happen in [Troubleshoot mode](https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode)?

Actually the name of the file was content-prefs.sqlite .
I am experiencing the same issues in Troubleshoot mode too.

Does that also happen with a clean new profile(https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles)? If not, you could switch back to your broken profile and refresh(https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings) FF there. That will save you some time restoring things.

I am not using profiles on my FF.
There was a new update 2 days ago and the problems are still here. Something was making my CPU hit the roof all the time. Also there is no difference on the Macbook as well with the newest update.

Many users are experiencing serious problems with Firefox 137 version. Just read other posts on this discussion forum. (Not the pinned ones by employees, but the new ones.) 👉

Solution: I did a clear install on FF and the bugs were fixed. Lost all extensions, but make sure to save your bookmarks from the FF folder.
