I just got a new laptop with Windows 11 and tried to download Firefox, but it wouldn't let me. I went round in several circles and finally connected with Microsoft Help. The technical guy got me to install an app whose only purpose was to switch Windows out of S-mode so that it would allow non- Microsoft apps to be installed. Isn't this stuff supposed to be illegal, Microsoft taking advantage of its dominant position to shut out other software? Anyway I just wanted to report this and hope t...

...rogram on my Android phone for a long time. Now K9 is Thunderbird, it is part of a bigger familiy and will get better support. I use Mozilla Thunderbird on my computer.  Our company, Ciphermail, makes email encryption server softeware, supporting S/MIME and PGP. A community version is available at https://gitlab.com/ciphermail/ciphermail-community-gateway/-/tree/main  We do have an android email app that is very limited in functions. Instead of continuing that app, we want to c...

I'm using AI in the sidebar. Then, I close the sidebar for a short time and focus on the page. And what do you know? When I open Gemini in the sidebar again, a new query page appears. Why does a new query window appear when I open the AI query in the sidebar again? I want to continue my research when I reopen the sidebar. This is the reason I use Opera...

Hello, I'm using K-9 since years and don't plan on switching because it's the best mail client available for Android - thank you for developing this awesome client btw! I would love to see support for S/MIME as it's growing importance, especially in business communication. For example the company I work for requires using S/MIME for every mail containing personal data, which means that technically I have to use S/MIME already when I just mention anyones name in an email, which makes K-9 u...

Make Ctrl+S save filled PDF form data

When filling out PDF forms in Firefox, pressing Ctrl+S saves the original PDF without the entered form data. However, when closing the PDF tab, Firefox asks whether I want to save the changes, and that version correctly includes the filled-in fields. This behavior is confusing because Ctrl+S is universally understood as "save the current document as it is now." Chrome and other PDF viewers save the current state of the form when using Ctrl+S, so Firefox's behavior is unexpected. U...

I have been reporting for a long time about the ridiculous number of FF instances running when on only ONE web page, Google is running even on the basic home page, and the sheer amount of collective RAM and CPU power that's being used. Nobody has replied. And a long time ago I posted this question too > https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/ff-slow-loading-images-and-videos/m-p/34378#M12537 Nobody replied to that question either, except me that is . . Twice? I did like FF, but I a...

Thunderbird Android supports email encryption and signing using OpenPGP. I would like to add support for S/MIME. Our company Ciphermail (www.ciphermail.com) provides an open source email encryption server product. We also have Ciphermail Android, a free app for encrypting and signing email. Our proposal is to convert this app to a companion app to Thunderbird, as a plugin, in much the same way that Thunderbird Android now supports OpenPGP. We would make our app open source.

Many popular email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Vivaldi Mail, Mailspring, Geary) have the following format in the cards view: Sender Subject [First ~10-15 words of the email body] This is almost essential when you receive many emails a day. You can quickly scan through emails in the message list without clicking on each one to view its contents. Would like to see this implemented in Thunderbird

Firefox 98.0.2 in Linux...  from menu click to opening window takes 25 SECONDS!  No cpu activity and no network activity during that time.   What is Firefox doing?  Or, what is it waiting for?  On the same hardware, Debian firefox-esr 91.8.0 takes about 1 second; and the previous -Mozilla- version that I used, 97.0.1, also started up in about 1 second.   I think I should revert back to 97.0.1 and wait for this issue to be fixed.
