Today I noticed that the buttons on top of the above website did not work. I am using the latest version of Firefox. I generally first access websites without having tracking cookies enabled. In this case, when I enabled tracking cookies the buttons across the top of the website worked properly. The owner of the website (an elected rep in our state legislature) was emphatic that her website did not use tracking cookies. She later emailed me and said that her web guy blamed Firefox for the problem and claimed that he often has "problems" with Firefox. Most political sites in our region do not use tracking cookies, but I have recently found some sites (made with Squarespace and WIX) where the designer has tracking cookies enabled but was not aware of it, because they had just copied and pasted code or used a pre-packaged web design framework to build their website.
I noticed the problem right away and just went back and enabled tracking cookies and the buttons worked just fine, but the underlying problem is that people (like this representative) do not want to track or pass along tracking information to anyone, yet their website appears to be doing so, without the owner's knowledge.
Does anyone know of a simple line of code that can be deleted from the common web design packages that disable the site's use of tracking cookies? Please don't just blame this on AI... even if this really is a garbage in equals garbage out (GIGO) issue.
