unwanted subscription requests

I'm going to stop using Firefox as my default browser. I'm sick and tired of being asked to subscribe to things in order to read articles!

Yeah, I've turned-off the newsfeed on the Firefox Home page, on new tabs, as around a third of all articles minimum each-day are all paywalled.  Becomes a waste of time bothering to click any.
