Unusable error message

Making moves

Since some time I get the following message:

"Unexpected response from server

This document cannot be displayed,
unless you install the personal security manager (PSM).
Download and install the PSM and try again, or contact your system administrator.

Make sure that the personal security manager is installed on your system.
This may be due to a non-default configuration of the server."

It would be thoughtful of Thunderbird to indicate, in this message, via a link, where I could find that particular download.
When I search for "Download PSM" I get all kinds of options that have to do with sound and/or music.

So the above hint is completely worthless.

Can that also be done differently?
(I haven't been able to retrieve mail via Thunderbird for several weeks.
