Too many updates!!

Making moves

For over 20 years Mozilla Firefox was ROCK SOLID.

Updates were few and far between.  Today it seems updates are weekly and sometimes even daily.

The updates claim to keep all your settings intact.  For the last six months or so every update corrupts

my cookies and settings. Even when I tell Firefox settings to make exceptions for websites to store info

it ignores the setting.  It also seems impossible to track down  any hidden setting that may be conflicting.

As much as I hate to say it I may have to abandon Firefox for Google Chrome.

Making moves

It has been years since Mozilla users started asking to stop the crazy frenquency of the updates, and instead of listening, Mozilla actually act a bit like Google and tells their users why Mozilla is always right.

That is a bit of an issue, because Mozilla is not right. It has become slow, big and very sensitive as a browser. It regularly auto-crashes pages if you do not update, which never happened with AdBlock Browser, Brave or any other one I used.

Mozilla do need to understand their users are not dumb. They know very well updates are necessary, but also that those same users are not pleased when they get bothered every (few) day(s) with the question if they want to update the browser. The big issue with this is that we, as human beings, only have a certain amount of decision power in our brain. So every time Mozilla ask us a question, we lose the ability of one choice.

Yes, you can enable auto-updates, but I prefer not to. I decide what gets updated and what not.

Look, at least update your servers instead and connectivity instead of constantly changing our browsers, forcing auto-logouts,... Are your tech nerds really not able to make an auto-preforming web browser? I mean, again, Brave can. Mozilla cannot?

It seems like Mozilla has become the equivalent of a toddler who violently throws candy in the store if he/se is not pleased (updated) right away.

I do not need to tell you how unproductive Mozilla has become for my company. So I am just going to leave it for Brave, Adblock Browser or DuckDuckGo. I already use their apps and they ALSO don't get updated as badly-often as Mozilla's do.

But let's face it, Mozilla will not listen to us. And probably one of their mods will delete this comment and/or copy-paste some AI excuse why Mozilla is always right. Again, it's really, really, really not.

Maybe they just lost their power. I mean, times are changing and if Mozilla lacks the ability to change too, it might lead to many wrong updates, that then have to be corrected with another update, and another, and another.

R.I.P., Mozilla. You did well, now take your rest and let the capable people handle the tech world. You know, the ones that know constant updates are not necessary if the product is stable and secure enough...

PS Did you know this forum is actually a brutal way of letting us do our own work? We need to make an account, we need to reply to other users, whilst the Mozilla mods sometimes react, whenever they feel like. It's called 'shadow work' and is the reason why most of us have less time than before the technological internet revolution. Companies have outsourced their Customer Service work upon us. So every time - yes, I'm doing that too, because of frustration - you react to another user, you actually do the work for Mozilla without getting paid even a cent. Google does that too. So I might know where Mozilla got their inspiration from...
