html file for email signature is not saving to setting.

When Thunderbird is closed, link to html signature is lost

I've been having that problem with all my signatures. I used to be able to easily edit signatures for all identities for all my email accounts; lately - for many months if not longer - anytime I try to edit a signature the old signature and all the other details for that identity come up blank and I have to start from scratch ... and if I make a single mistake and later need to change anything, I again have to start from scratch.

My issue was a corrupt default profile.  I created a new profile and deleted the old one, re-entered my email accounts and it fixed the problem.
