Thunderbird for Android – disappointment and lack of transparency

Josetxo
Making moves

I have been a Thunderbird user on PC for a long time and I really appreciate the program. Because of that trust, I decided to install the mobile version and even made a donation to support the project.

However, my experience with Thunderbird for Android has been a real disappointment:

The app only shows the Outbox, with no real access to my Inbox or imported messages.

The QR setup promises easy integration, but the result is practically useless for the end user.

Nowhere is it clearly stated that the app is in such a limited state.

I strongly believe it is better to not release a product, or at least to be transparent and clearly label it as a beta or development version, instead of presenting it as a finished app.

As a user, I feel deceived. I made a donation expecting a functional product, but what I found is something half-baked.

I am sharing this feedback here first, but if there is no clarification or improvement I will publish the same review on Google Play so other users are aware. Transparency and honesty are essential — releasing something that does not work as expected only generates frustration and mistrust.

Thank you for your attention.

Josetxo, Thanks for sharing, and for the donation.

Let's take these one at a time to determine where the problems occur...

> The app only shows the Outbox, with no real access to my Inbox or imported messages.

In the Thunderbird android application, which accounts are shown in the configuration?

> The QR setup promises easy integration, but the result is practically useless for the end user.

The QR setup is for account creation, not device integration.  It's capabilities and limitations are documented in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-android-import

According to the documentation, which parts worked for you?  And which parts did not?
