I'm used to most email clients which automatically focus view on the latest email when opening a folder. In Thunderbird I think the behavior is to "remember" last opened email on any given folder, so what ends up happening is that when I open a not so frequent folder, I need to scroll up (I have latest shown up) all the way until seeing the latest.
I think there used to be a working add-on that implemented this called "Auto Select Latest Message" but it has long gone deprecated (latest working on Thunderbird v104).
I'm currently using Thunderbird v128.10.
