and there's nothing on my desk despite having my profile synchronise. **bleep** you ♥

Destroyed all my tabs AND tab groups which are supposedly durable. What's the point doing QA if you're going to release data destroying crap. Can't tell end users to update their software if it will delete their research. Do better.

Same here. And tried every troubleshooting suggestion and nothing worked. Even AI suggestions did fix the issue. Critical bookmarks gone

Try tapping the ALT key to show the old-style menu-bar and click "Profiles". If more than one is listed, change to the one that doesn't say "(current)" after the name, and see if you can get your stuff back.
If not, in Menu > Settings > Account and Synchronisation > Backup (scroll all the way to the bottom) do you have that turned-on? If so, you can probably recover from that backup
If not, type about:profiles in the web-address bar and press ENTER. Do you have more than one profile listed there?

First see if Firefox has created a new profile for you: tap the ALT key to show the old menus, click Profiles and see if you have more than one entry. If so, click whichever profile doesn't say "(current)" after it to switch to that profile, and see if your missing data is back.
If not, type about:profiles in the web-address bar, then press ENTER. The one that has "This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted" above it is the one you're currently using. Do you see any other profiles listed below that?

Not had that issue here after the 157.0 update.
Some things the people affected here could try:
If you go to the Firefox menu (three-lines icon) at the top it will list what profile you are currently logged in as (in my case "original profile"). Click that, then "Manage Profiles" and see if you have more than one there; it may be the upgrade has created a new profile for you, and you may be able to switch back to the original one from that screen.
Alternatively, in the web-address bar type about:profiles then press ENTER, and that screen will list the location of all your local Firefox settings folders. The ones that have "AppData\Roaming" in the path are the ones where bookmarks are stored. Click the "Open Folder" button and see if you can find a folder called "bookmarkbackups" and copy that somewhere else. Then in Firefox go to Menu > Bookmarks > Manage bookmarks... > Import and backup... > Restore > Choose file... and then select the most-recent file from the folder you copied (for example, one that has "bookmarks-2026-09-28" at the start of the filename, which would be a backup from yesterday).
