Did you mean:

spam button is "too quick"

Expect UI optimisation:
Please add there small UI DELAY (0,5sec) before you open to mark and delete next SPAM message. Thank you very much.

explanation:
I intend to mark SPAM by the icon of fire in the message list of Thunderbird 140.11.1esr (64 bit). During that easy operation I repeatedly and unintendedly mark as SPAM (and automatically delete) also the next valid important email message! The operation was too fast, and my hand is a little slow (and fingers /mouse/ can unintendently doubleclick).
Thank you a lot.

Summary: Accidental spam marking when message list changes after clicking the Junk icon

When a message is manually marked as junk from the Inbox message list, Thunderbird immediately moves it to the Junk folder and removes the row from the list.

This can lead to accidental junk marking of the next message when:

  • the user unintentionally double-clicks the Junk icon, or

  • a new message arrives and the message list is refreshed while the user is clicking.

As a result, a legitimate message may be marked as junk and moved to the Junk folder, while the intended junk message remains in the Inbox.

Configuration:

  • Move new junk messages to: Junk folder

  • Mark manually marked junk messages as read

Expected result:
User interaction should remain associated with the originally targeted message, even if the message list is updated immediately after the click.

Actual result:
A different message may receive the junk action because the list changes before the user's interaction is completed.
