The "browser.nova.enabled" to false workaround in about:config is scheduled to stop working
in Firefox 161, due for release on November 24th.
Long-term, moving to a different browser may be wise.
Floorp, Librewolf* and Waterfox* are some of the most-recommended alternatives to Firefox.
* both of these default to the new "Nova" look, but provide easy ways to turn it off

Cool. If they cut my precious UI out - I am moving to opening web pages in friggin' terminal through ELinks.

I came here to comment on this. Same on desktop Linux, the new rounded edges make tabs both more narrow so less of the title shows and also make them take up more space with larger gaps between the tabs. The rounds are egregiously huge, the margins on elements are enormous, there's just so much wasted space everywhere.
I would individually be fine if some of these were options for a touchscreen but that they're just there to waste space on my desktop is deeply irritating.

Came here to say exactly this.

Yep. Where do some people have their heads? Putting the fonts and the overall layout smaller and more dificult to read (face palm).
People really like to mess whith what is working great don´t they?

Who ever commissioned this new Interface must want us to stop using the product do go out like Photobucket give the people what they want and kick back and relax dont push me to chrome. been suing firefox since 2004-05 be a shame to just copy my favourites to another browser and delete it! all this highlighting of tabs and menu bars is unnecessary either tell us how to turn it off or just remove it.
Thanks in advance

I have been a faithful user of Firefox for over 10 years, now I am now looking at other independent browsers to use.
Version 157 appears to have a memory management issue, when I run Firefox (one window with one tab) the memory usage on the computer bounces between 50% & 96%, when it's at over 90% the Windows system is trashing disk 0 paging; during this time the computer stops responding.
I am currently using Microsoft Edge as an alternative until I find a secure alternative browser or Moz://a patch/update Firefox.

It will most-likely be an extension causing this; try visiting the site in a "Private Window"
(where no extensions are allowed to run, by-default) and see if you get no issues.
You can also do: Menu -> Extensions and Themes -> ⚙ icon -> Check for updates
If any get updated, best to fully-close all Firefox windows and bring a new one up.
You could also try the Task Manager built-into Firefox: Menu -> More tools -> Task Manage
Click on the column-headings to sort by highest Memory or highest CPU
See if a particular site is causing the issue, or if "Extensions" is the cause.
