In MacOS Mail app I can command click or under right click select 'open behind Mail' to open the link I click without bringing the browser window to the foreground. Nice when scanning newsletters.
This used to work fine with Firefox, but I noticed today it no longer works and Firefox is still coming to the foreground with Command-Click or the right click option. Updating to 159.0 (arch64) did not fix this.
Using safari as default browser it still works.
