In ThunderBird 140.2.0esr (on Windows platform), the attachment save (without opening the attachment) in a mail does not work. It does not give any error message. But when you check the target folder, the attachment is not found there.

I checked with pdf attachments. It works only when you double click and open the attachment and then save it.

Kindly check and rectify the issue urgently.

I can't reproduce that. There is this bug though. Does it also happen in Troubleshoot mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird)?

I have the same problem. I tried Troubleshoot mode. The problem persists.

Removing McAfee did the trick. It came pre-installed with a new laptop and apparently, it prevented Thunderbird from saving attachments without giving a warning.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem

Thunderbird 140.2.0esr (64 bit) on Windows 11

Are you renaming the file before saving it?

Did you try Troubleshoot mode?

I am not renaming the file before saving The name should remain the same for work reason.

No I did not try the Troubleshoot mode. Anyway the previous release of Thunderbird did not have this problem

If it does the same in TS mode, you could report it as a possible bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi/. If you do, please post the link to it here.

McAfee is known to be causing that problem.

If you see any further cases of this not linked to McAfee, please report at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/thunderbird or file a bug. Thanks.
