I really don't like Version 157.0.1

First off it took icons off my toolbar, including my bookmarks. That is where I wanted them not on a sidebar. I had my bookmarks set up to make things easy for me. Changed that set up too. It also auto changed the appearance. Is Firefox changing to chrome now? If I wanted that I'd just use Brave. One of the reasons I use Firefox is because it's not chrome. I would think there would be an easy way to roll back to the previous version but there is not. I'm wondering if it's time to look for something else.

If you mean your row of bookmarks has completely disappeared, right-click an empty of the tab bar or URL bar and click "Bookmarks Toolbar" and set it to either "Only Show on New Tab" or "Always Show".

That's the new Nova look introduced in version 157.  For now, you can largely reverse it.  In the URL bar, type about:config and accept any warning, if shown.  Then search for nova and double-click on "browser.nova.enabled" to change it to "false"
