Half-baked address bar unit converter

Apparently the address bar can now be used as a unit converter. Great. Except... it sucks.

The supported list of time zones is pathetically incomplete. Where are the various Hour±30mins or Hour±45mins TZs?

Also, it seems FF is relying on a subset of the TZ abbreviations list? Why, when these have so much overlap? For example,

IST = Irish Standard Time = UTC+01:00
IST = Israel Standard Time = UTC+02:00
IST = Indian Standard Time = UTC+05:30

But FF currently only recognizes IST = Irish Standard Time = UTC+01:00. Why?

What is the point of introducing such half-baked 'features'? Does anyone even review these properly before public release?

I agree that unit conversion features are only really useful when they handle the less common cases accurately. Time zones are especially tricky because abbreviations like IST can represent completely different offsets.

I’ve actually been working on my own free online unit converter with a focus on making conversions more comprehensive and straightforward. It’s still a work in progress, so feedback like this is useful.

Hopefully browser-based converters keep improving rather than leaving users to work around missing conversions.
