I am having, and TBH have been having for a couple of years, a persistent yet intermittent issue when I click page elements which have a link. Might be button, might be an image, might just be linked text, whatever. Most of the time, of course, when I click something it just does the thing it's supposed to do. But sometimes (maybe once or twice per browsing session, but not every session), it'll do that thing, and also initiate a drag-and-drop of that page element. Even though I've already released the mouse button, I'm stuck dragging whatever the page element is, and depending on what it is sometimes I'll end up actually performing an action, usually that action being accidentally opening a new tab or dropping the link onto an existing tab and causing the browser to navigate away from where I was. Exactly what triggers this behavior isn't clear to me. I seem to be clicking and releasing quickly and I don't think I'm moving the mouse when this occurs, so I'm not actually clicking and dragging as far as I can tell. It's almost as if releasing the mouse button is being processed correctly by the part (probably browser) that performs the clicking of the link, but not by the part that detects drag-and-drop (maybe OS?). I use 4 different machines pretty regularly, with one of them dual-booting Ubuntu 24.04.4 and Windows 11, and it only ever happens to me on that one machine, in Ubuntu. I realize it might be related to the OS, but I'm still curious whether anyone's seen something similar, especially if you're aware of anything that might help.
