Confusing clutter of unremovable icons growing in the URL/ task bar

"Picture in a picture". I don't want it. "Toggle reader view". I don't want it. "Add tabs" to taskbar. Please no! I am too old to change. I need to de-clutter. Not make more.  If this growth of confusion continues I will need to find a more basic browser. I do not have the time or energy. to find one. "Make a Firefox account" no thank you. "Save my passwords" Thanks for not making that a default. Simplify  the default browser. Make it so people have the ability to add all the confusing stuff they want. But please do not force any of it on me.

You can try

Go to configuration editor for Firefox

You can double-click on the preference to set the value to false

To turn some of these off:

Add tabs to Taskbar: in the web-address bar, type about:config and press ENTER.  Accept any warning, and search for browser.taskbarTabs.enabled .  Double-click that entry to set it to "false".

Picture-in-Picture: in the same about:config screen, change "media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.urlbar-button.enabled" to "false"

Toggle Reader View: in the same about:config screen, try changing "reader.parse-on-load.enabled" to "false".  I leave that icon on myself, as I sometimes use that view, so can't say for sure it works.

Toggle Reader View

reader.parse-on-load.enabled, default value, true

About, icon.
You can try an code userChrome.css

#reader-mode-button-icon{display:none!important;}

Tip: If a page is available in Reader View, you can also access Reader View from the Menu bar when the Menu bar is enabled, by clicking View then Enter Reader View. Alternatively, you can press the key F9 to toggle Reader View.

Thanks for sharing ways to hide these icons, but I think the point being made is that the decision to start placing unremovable (without jumping through hoops) icons into the url field was a bad design choice and needs to be reconsidered.   Firefox has a customizable toolbar, use it!!

Firefox feels much better when the interface stays clean. For simple tasks like checking a utility bill, fewer distractions make things easier.
