Background colour of New Email Thunderbird Ubuntu 24 LTS

Every time I want to reply to an email or write a new one, my own colours are used again. The settings for using the default colours are not saved. What do I need to do to save these settings permanently? I don't want an orange background. I wana use standard colours.

Hi @Lolaf42,

This issue sometimes happens when Thunderbird’s theme or composition settings override system colours. Try the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings → Composition → HTML Style, and uncheck “Use my default colours”.

  2. Then go to Settings → General → Language & Appearance, and under Colours, select Use system colours and save.

  3. If it still resets, switch to the Default theme under Add-ons → Themes, restart Thunderbird, and reapply your preferences.

This should keep your background white (or your system’s default) instead of orange when composing new emails.
