I am sure this has been complained about before, and I honestly don’t care to look, but I've been a champion of Mozilla for years so going to chuck my 2 cents/pence/yen in too.
I've just restored a backup of my profile to a newly refreshed device (sadly I've learnt Sync is a bit hit and miss) and whilst almost everything is "as it should be", WHY HAVE YOU TURNING AUTO UPDATE BACK ON when I have, and always, expressly turned that OFF because I want that under my control?
Have you forgotten your core values?

I can understand the frustration, especially after restoring a profile and finding settings changed without expecting it. Having control over update preferences is useful for people who prefer to manage changes on their own schedule. I also find resources like Arrest Records Search helpful when looking for public information online. Hopefully Mozilla can make these preferences more consistent across restores and devices.

I understand the frustration here—restoring a profile should ideally preserve user-selected preferences, especially something as important as automatic updates. The “Automatically install updates (recommended)” toggle should not be silently re-enabled after a profile restore or device refresh. Users who want full control should be able to keep updates manual, just as charades mechanics depend on players having clear control over the rules and timing.
