I would like LibreOffice Writer to add a built-in 6 x 9 inch page size preset for common book and print-on-demand workflows, and also add a way to save custom page layouts as reusable presets after changing page size, margins, and left/right page behavior.
This request comes from repeated real-world use formatting books for print-on-demand publishing. 6 x 9 is a very common trim size, but currently it must be recreated manually through page settings and page styles. This becomes especially frustrating when working across multiple documents or when importing from DOCX, where page-style behavior may not remain clear or persistent.
Problems observed
6 x 9 is not available as a built-in preset even though it is a common publishing size.
Users must manually recreate the same layout repeatedly across many files.
Imported DOCX documents can make page-style changes feel unreliable or difficult to preserve.
Export-to-PDF workflows for publishing become error-prone because small layout inconsistencies are hard to detect early.
There is no simple workflow memory such as “You changed page size and margins. Save this as a reusable preset?”
Requested improvements
Add a native 6 x 9 inch preset in Writer page setup / page styles.
Add a prompt such as:
“You changed page size, margins, and page layout. Save this as a reusable preset?”
Let users name and reuse saved presets such as:
KDP Paperback 6x9
Hardcover 6x9
Book Interior 6x9 Wide Gutter
Make saved layout presets easy to apply to new and existing documents.
Improve transparency and reliability of custom page-style changes for imported DOCX files.
Why this matters
This would save substantial time for authors, self-publishers, students, and other users who repeat the same layout tasks across many files. It would also reduce formatting errors in export-to-PDF workflows and make Writer more practical for real publishing use.
This is a small feature with high practical value. The current process forces users to recreate common layouts manually even when doing the same workflow repeatedly. A reusable preset system would turn repeated frustration into one-time setup.
Expected result
A user should be able to:
choose a built-in 6 x 9 preset, or
create a custom layout once, save it, name it, and reuse it later without rebuilding the same settings every time.
