@Jeppie thanks for checking in...there's no timeline yet to share, but it is a priority and coming soon. When we have some more concrete details to share, we'll do so in this thread. Stay tuned
One feature that I have found incredibly useful in other browsers like Google Chrome is the built-in translation button. This button allows users to easily translate web pages from one language to another, making online content more accessible and inclusive. As someone who frequently visits websites in multiple languages, I believe that adding a translation button to Firefox for Android would be a valuable addition
https://github.com/mozilla/firefox-translations What is gonna happen with this idea post? It says on github that the add-on will be discontinued and be focused in inbuilt translation. But what does that mean for firefox android because on android it's still only available with about:config.
Automatic Translator add-on for Firefox Android app
Firefox is an excellent browser. I am using it for a long time as my default web browser. However in Android version, unlike other famous browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera), I found Firefox doesn't have any Translator add-on. Which I think is a huge turn off.
I am making a formal request to the developer team to add an automatic translator add-on in Firefox Android version app. I strongly recommend DeepL Translator. Many thanks.
Translation features or add ons should be immediately added
If i still have to go to Google or bing for translation then why not to use chrome or edge on Android. Competition in Mobile Browser can lead to the lead in Mobile and PC world.
When can we expect this desktop feature to come to mobile? Looks like it's been in desktop for a while, and the extension version was working in nightly but is no longer maintained after integration into desktop. This leaves mobile users in a lurch, and is a pretty big feature gap compared to the competition at this point.
@Jonyes please i like to use it without about:config that only works with automatic translation. Btw is it coming at the same time in firefox focus or is that coming later?
I recently switched from Chrome to Firefox and was surprised by the lack of a button for instantly translating web pages. In the desktop version, I use the TPW addon which works very well. While in the Android version, I didn't find anything similar.
I hope this feature will be implemented on Android soon too.
