Both Yahoo and Google have announced, October 2023,  for commercial emails that these messages will need to support 'One-Click List-unsubscribe" headers in early 2024.

Implementing support for this in the Thunderbird mail client would be a nice feature and in line with these larger requirements. More marketers are going to be working to adopt/support these headers over the next few months and many other mail clients already support this feature it would make a good follow through here as well.

Action: Add a new button in message view to say "Unsubscribe" when the appropriate headers are available in the email.

List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:remove@example.com?subject=unsubscribe>,
<https://unsub.example.com/index.html?key=123456789>
List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click

This type of activity is described in RFC 2369 and RFC 8058.

This helps both senders and users. Users have a faster way to unsubscribe because they don't have to hunt for the link in the message, while senders get to maintain better subscriber lists because users are more likely to opt-out of messages they no longer want when there's an easy one-click way to do so.

I'd vote for this. As a privacy client Thunderbird needs to support that!

It would be nice to have a "One-Click List-unsubscribe" button one day implemented in Thunderbird.

The headers are there already.
