Why is Firefox not working on its DRM software like Widewine?

Using Widevine plugins makes Firefox dependent on Google, isn't it?

I think the big content sites are calling the shots on this. If they want an alternative to Widevine, then probably someone will develop one, but I suspect they don't fully trust the open source community to have their be$t intere$t$ at heart, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, you are right. But Firefox can make its plugin closed-source to facilitate big content websites. It looks like to me that Firefox in its heart, does not want independence from Google.

The Brave browser had to switch from Gecko to Chromium because of DRM software.
