Due to a security incident I had to change my mail-password. But thunderbird seems to notice that the password is incorrect now but alerts me that my server does not support encrypted passwords instead of asking me to type in the new password. I tried to change it in the config but could not find a way to do that.

So thunderbird should

  1. differentiate between
    1. server does not support encrypted password
    2. password doesn't macht and ask to type in the correct password
  2. better access any kind of password change dialogue

This should be much easier for the default user who might not understand that behaviour.

There is a support entry available but I think its to difficult and for Mac it works with neither control, option nor command key.
